Topic: Kansas Workers Compensation Benefits

Kansas Workers Compensation laws provide for three basic benefit types for injured employees.  You are entitled to lost wages which are called TTD or TPD, medical care thru qualified doctors, and disability benefits at the end of your case.  Maximizing these are critical for the injured employee who is off work and may not return to work after they are done with treatment.

Weekly Workers Compensation is called Temporary Total Disability(TTD) or Temporary Partial Disability(TPD).  An injured employee is entitled to these benefits when there is a loss of wages due to a doctor's restriction or a limitation placed on the employee by the doctor and the employee is off work or has their wages reduced.  TTD is based on 2/3's of a person's average weekly wages. It is paid at the maximum rate set by the State of Kansas for the date of accident.  TPD is 2/3's of the difference between a persons wages at the time of accident and the wages currently being earned due to the employer reducing the employee's wages, up to the State of Kansas maximum.  Always consult with an attorney if you think that your rate is not being correctly calculated because any good workers compensation attorney will calculate your rate of  TTD or TPD for free.

Next time I will discuss medical compensation in greater detail on this blog.
